We are a Certified B-Corporation made up of a group of passionate individuals and farmers working towards one goal: using coffee to empower communities.

In 2009,  this journey began with Vava Angwenyi who set up a social enterprise whose main aim is to contribute to better future prospects for local communities and the coffee industry as a whole. The company ensures sustainable livelihoods for the people and communities in which it works. Rather than give handouts, Vava Coffee gives hope for a better tomorrow to those it works with as well as their families by giving them a chance to earn a living and get out of poverty by engaging them in work activities they are skilled in performing. Vava Coffee not only works with small holder farmers in different coffee growing regions within Kenya but also has its coffee gift bags made by groups of women in the informal settlements surrounding Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.

Since 2009 Vava Coffee has been consistently recognized globally for its premium standard coffee as well as for its remarkable social impact.

Vava Coffee’s vision is to challenge the status quo and promote positive social disruption within the Coffee industry. This vision comes from an inborn Kenyan passion for coffee and a drive to promote the sustainable production of coffee within Kenya’s and the wider East African region by tracing the production of high quality coffee beans to the independent small holder coffee farmer, who works day in and day out, against major obstacles and with meager resources to produce some of the world’s best tasting coffees, often without an understanding or appreciation of the final fruits of their labor.
